“Getting to grips with this popular strategy”

There’s been a lot of noise about commercial conversions over the last few years, but what exactly are they and how do you do them?

In this episode Ritchie delves into his 35 years of property experience during which he’s worked on many types of conversion both large and small.

Whilst the name ‘commercial conversion’ is relatively new, the conversion of commercial buildings into residential has been happening for decades and has proved to be a very lucrative strategy for many developers. Ritchie guides us through the planning classes, the timescales, and design implications involved when tackling this type of project, as well as looking at some of the risks involved.

Interestingly whilst commercial buildings often feature a great many ceiling tiles, most developers usually scrap them all, thereby missing the trick of having them dipped in chocolate and sold on as a low calorie snack. Ian and Ritchie reveal more about this frankly disturbing strategy in this episode…
